Way better than a standalone machine Just bought a chef. I needed to combine all my bits and bobs to save on space. I did have a fairly good small ice cream maker by Philips that I hadn’t been able to use for a while, which replaced a magimix that stopped being effective. Decided to take the plung and replace it, even though the Kenwood set up actually was bigger.

Just the ticket for home made ice cream. Used it a handful of times now, and it definitely pays to have your ingredients as cold as possible before mixing. That said, the paddle, was easy to line up and use, and seems sturdy enough for the job. It does the job of breaking up ice crystals as your mix is freezing, and hence keeping it creamy smooth.Tip;- for best results put the bowl in your freezer the day before you need it, also mix your ingredients and keep in fridge overnight before use.

Severn Bites says:

Invest in a stand alone ice cream maker rather than this one. Unfortunately, this attachment is not fit for purpose if you are going to use this on a regular basis. The design relies on the paddle being pushed round by the motor rather than sitting firmly as a dough hook or K paddle would sit. As the mixture freezes, the paddle jumps and causes the lid to lift. Even switching off quickly has resulted in the plastic cover breaking. I have been provided replacements and I cannot fault the customer service who were very responsive. Just think carefully about…
