All single men should have one of these Ok. I’m a single guy living on my own. I want to cook batches of meals and stick several portions in the freezer. This casserole pot is the business. I use it almost every weekend to cook up casseroles and curries. I usually eat one portion then stick 3-5 portions in the freezer. If I put carbs in the dish then I’ll get about 4 meals of 650g. Excellent product. Excellent. I bought my 27cm casserole on 16th February 2017 for GBP 135.00. But reviewing this on 4th March 2017 I notice the price has jumped to GBP 199.00. It will fit a Small Sainsbury’s chicken which is about 1.35kg with room to spare for some veg. Usual Le Creuset quality, but note being cast iron this is heavy, but can be used on the hob to brown/sear meat before adding veg to then put in the oven. The knob is easy to grip with an oven glove on.
Superb in all respects except weight There are numerous imitators of Le Creuset that in general do a decent job, but none can truly match the real thing. The heat distribution, the control, etc, are beyond reproach. Yes, you pay for this in terms of cost, but a LC casserole dish, properly cared for, will last a lifetime (and beyond). The one snag is the weight. LC products are robust, but very heavy. This becomes a big problem with the larger casseroles, which weigh a ton when empty, and when full, may be at the limit of what some…
