A reliably good brew – no need to fill it up It took a bit of adjusting the amount of water and coffee I put in this to get as tasty a cup of coffee as I did with my old aluminium moka (which had a slightly smaller capacity, and which I “retired” as aluminium cookware is increasingly linked to health scares), but now I’m very happy with the results. Very good value for money I just bought this pot a week ago, and am very pleased thus far. I will upgrade my review to a 5-star after I’ve had it a while and seen how it holds up long-term–and once I know I can find replacements for the silicone gasket inside. (Just did this …see my comments below.) It’s been my experience with stovetop espresso pots that these gaskets need replacement fairly often, and without them, the pot is useless. Much better than the Bialetti equivalent! I originally bought a Bialetti for my induction hob and after a few weeks of use the plastic lid hinge broke. After no luck on tracking down a replacement part I got tired of scalding myself on the loose lid and bought this Grunwerg. This pot is much more sturdy, the lid hinge is metal, the handle feels more robust and the pot actually brews more quickly. Also, the filter that holds the coffee appears to be stainless steel whereas the Bialetti is still aluminium. I wish I’d have gone for this…
